HSV striker Robert Glatzel ended his goal slack

You could hear them plopping, the weight that fell from his shoulders. Robert Glatzel was last goalless for six games, and the knot burst twice in the 3-0 (2-0) of HSV against Hansa Rostock. Thanks to the attacker’s two hits, HSV now welcomes third place in the table.

“A real scorer is missing – can HSV get promoted like that?” MOPO asked during the week. Glatzel’s answer: Who says that HSV doesn’t have a real striker?

“The two goals are of course really good for me,” said the 27-year-old after ending his 572-minute doldrums. His summary: “Won, scored goals, played to zero – that’s how you imagine it.”

HSV striker played the most successful first half of his professional career

With this, Glatzel, who recently seldom disappointed but repeatedly left high-profile players behind, also polished his own balance sheet. He has never scored eight first half goals as a professional, so far his half-year high has been seven goals (for Heidenheim, in the 2018/19 series). “We are glad that he has now been rewarded for his work,” praised coach Tim Walter. “In the last time he sometimes had a bit of bad luck.”

Glatzel wants to start the winter break next Saturday with another sense of achievement. Good omen for him: Against Schalke it worked out 3-1 at the start of the season, when Glatzel met to equalize.
