Hallescher FC: This is how André Meyer – football ticks

Halleschen FC is still officially looking for a coach. Behind the scenes, however, it has long been clear: According to BILD information, André Meyer (37) will try to lead the people of Saalstadt out of the crisis from January.

But what kind of guy is the HFC for whom the HFC pays a transfer fee of 20,000 euros in order to buy him out of his contract with fourth division Berliner AK, which runs until the summer? “An absolute expert who lives football,” said an acquaintance of BILD.

Meyer, born in Halle, initially studied sports science in Cologne before receiving his football instructor license in 2014. “He loves the pressing and switching game,” said his brother Daniel (42) in an interview with BILD in 2019 about Meyer’s philosophy of play.

At the age of 22 he was already working in the youth team at Bundesliga club Cologne. This was followed by positions at Hertha, Augsburg and Union, before Meyer became head coach for the regional division Fürstenwalde for the first time in 2018. He has formed the BAK into a candidate for promotion since June 2020 – with his brother Ben (22) as a player on the pitch!

The youngest Meyer is the third in the family group. In 2019, André briefly assisted the oldest Daniel (currently U19 coach RB Leipzig) at the second division Aue.

The professional experience is there. The only question is whether Meyer at HFC can also handle seasoned kickers like Terrence Boyd (30) or Niklas Kreuzer (28). Because he definitely needs that behind him in order to successfully fight the mission “relegation” …
