Franky Van der Elst: “Charleroi player Zorgane is a discovery” | Extra Time

Between the fan riots in Liège, Franky Van de Elst was once again impressed by Charleroi player Adem Zorgane this weekend. “He played a wonderful game,” says Van der Elst.

“He is a beautiful footballer, who can play in one time, can dribble, in the combination, keep people off and keep the overview in the duels. And then he also comes with nice cross balls. It seems simple what he does.”

The 21-year-old Algerian played for Paradou AC in his own country last season. “He is a discovery. In the first place for Charleroi, but also for us,” says Van der Elst.

During the Antwerp derby between Beerschot and Antwerp, Filip Joos was a privileged witness to Radja Nainggolan’s wonderful goal.

“I don’t know a player who comes in like that and kicks with his instep. Everyone uses the inside of his foot “à la Robben” and turns the ball,” says Filip Joos.

“Nainggolan’s goal was a flower on a dung heap, because the game itself was really not good.”

Joos and Franky Van der Elst do agree that Nainggolan was the best man on the field. “Due to circumstances, I was only able to watch for 20 minutes, but I thought he was the best then. Much firmer than the rest,” says Van der Elst.

Joos: “In the Europa League match against Frankfurt, a Bundesliga team with qualities, you also noticed that he was the best football player on the field.”
