Brazilian Fluminense announced on Tuesday the hiring of Ecuadorian full-back Mario Alberto Pineida, who landed this week in Rio de Janeiro on loan from Barcelona de Guayaquil until December 2022.
“The 29-year-old Ecuadorian soccer player has already been approved in the medical examinations and was in the training center to sign a loan contract for one year with an option to buy,” the tricolor team from Rio de Janeiro announced in a statement published on their networks social.
The experience in the Brazilian team will be the first of the full-back outside his country after having gone through the Ecuadorians Paraná-SC, Independiente and Barcelona de Guayaquil, where he played since 2016 and with which he has had international experience in matches for the Copa Libertadores .
The winger participated precisely in the two games in which Fluminense and Barcelona met this year for the quarterfinals of the Copa Libertadores.
Pineida has also had international experience as a player for the Ecuadorian national team.
The winger, who acts indistinctly on the right as on the left, played 33 games for Barcelona in the last season, in which he scored a goal and gave two assists.
“Pineida, who accumulates passages for the Ecuadorian team, stood out playing for Barcelona de Guayaquil and draws attention for the strong marking power and for acting on both sides of the pitch,” said Fluminense in their statement.

Pineida is the third reinforcement announced by Fluminense for next season after the hiring of midfielder Felipe Melo and forward William Bigode, both champions of the 2021 Copa Libertadores with Palmeiras.
The Carioca team also renewed its coach for the new season and is now under the orders of Abel Braga, and is finalizing the hiring of Argentine striker, Germán Ezequiel Cano, who left Vasco da Gama this month, a Brazilian club from which he became one of the biggest idols and scorers.
Let us remember that, for the 2022 edition of the Copa Libertadores, Fluminense did not qualify directly to the group stage and will have to play against Millonarios, in the Second Repechage Round, on February 22 and March 1, respectively.
