FC Bayern: They’re not the best here – the amazing numbers in the first half of the season! – Bundesliga

The Bavarians are not the high-flyers everywhere!

With Julian Nagelsmann (34) Munich won the autumn championship – nine points ahead of Dortmund, the most goals (56), the most big chances (51) and corners (102), with the fewest goals conceded (16).

It’s hard to believe, but there are still areas in which the team can still improve. Here the Bavarians are not the best!

Only one of the 56 goals was scored by a defender

The defenders remained goalless for 16 matchdays. It was only in the last game of the first half of the season (4-0 against Wolfsburg) that 42.5 million newcomer Dayot Upamecano (23) headed a Müller cross.

Nagelsmann: “He finally scored a goal. This is important. We have to make sure that our defenders are also dangerous for goals, especially when the opponent is that low. “

For comparison: In the first half of the season, a defender met eight times for Stuttgart.

Only three header goals

In addition to the Upamecano goal, only Robert Lewandowski (33) was successful twice with a head for Bayern. League average is five header goals, Cologne is at the top with eleven.

Bavaria missed most of the big chances

56 hits are the first round record in the league. But there could have been a lot more. Bavaria missed the most major opportunities (26 out of 51), so only used 49 percent. Frankfurt is the most efficient (62 percent used major opportunities).

Little danger of corners

Only every 34th Bayern corner led to the goal (102 corners, three hits) – average, although Joshua Kimmich (26) is one of the most dangerous shooters in the squad. Freiburg used every 15th corner to score a goal.

Not enough good flanks

170 balls from outside hit the wings, Alphonso Davies (21) and Benjamin Pavard (25). Only 22 percent arrived – that’s slightly below average. Best value: Leipzig (31 percent).

Too many goals against the ball

Almost a third of all goals conceded were headed (5 of 16) – Dortmund and Frankfurt were defeated that way.

Great susceptibility to the outside

The record champions conceded a goal six times after a cross – only the promoted Fürth and Bochum conceded more (eleven and seven goals conceded).

Outside just a clean slate

Goalkeeper Manuel Neuer (35) only stayed in one of the eight away games without conceding a goal – on matchday 16 at 5-0 in Stuttgart.

Too many goals conceded directly after losing the ball

Only one goal conceded by standards, that’s great, but 15 of 16 out of the game. The division of space after losing the ball is often the problem in counter-pressing.

Bayern still have room for improvement in some areas – but they are still confidently on the way to the tenth cup in a row!
