Stephan Mayer, Vice President of the German Olympic Sports Confederation, will be the sports policy spokesman for the CDU / CSU. Mayer takes on the role of opposition leader in the sports committee of the German Bundestag.
Stephan Mayer, Vice President of the German Olympic Sports Confederation (DOSB), has become the sports policy spokesman for the CDU / CSU parliamentary group. The parliamentary manager of the parliamentary group, Hendrik Hoppenstedt, informed Bundestag President Bärbel Bas in writing on Tuesday.
Mayer takes on the role of opposition leader in the sports committee of the German Bundestag. For the time being, he cannot take up his position as Vice President in the newly elected Presidium of the DOSB. The new federal government must first decide whether the Bavarian, until the change of power in Berlin, Parliamentary State Secretary at the Federal Ministry of the Interior responsible for top-class sport, has to accept a waiting period.
After his election in Weimar on December 4, Mayer said that he was expecting clearance in January. The Landessportbund Berlin and the SPD had suggested that Mayer take a break before taking on the honorary office. His most recent appointment sparked criticism on Tuesday.
