Stefan Oldenburg steps on the mat at the DJB ranking tournament. He could run into a club mate. Two women from SU Annen also start.

At the end of the judo competition year, some fighters go to the Sport-Union Other on Saturday (December 11th) at the DJB ranking tournament in Lünen. Very important: The last tickets for the German Championships in Stuttgart in January 2022 will be awarded there.

“Let’s see what is still in the tank,” says Stefan Oldenburg, SU Annen trainer, before the competition, which will definitely be top-class.

Due to the corona situation, the German Judo Association modified the regulations this year due to the DM qualification and advertised starting places via the ranking tournaments. The Wittener will be represented with a total of eleven active participants in the sports hall of the Käthe-Kollwitz-Gesamtschule, where the first weight classes will be involved in the action at 10 a.m.

Incidentally, the SUA coach himself will not drive to Lünen in his coaching role alone, but will also do the judogi himself again. In the 81 kg class, the West German champion of this year could well meet a club colleague in the course of the competition, as Robin Gutsche, Aeneas Paul and Moritz Vieregge are three other SUA athletes in the light middleweight division.

Also registered are Erik Hobein (-60 kg), Kjell Kämmers and Lukas Romahn (-66 kg), Tim Malewany (-73 kg) and the 42-year old veteran Manuel Neumann (+100 kg).

In the female competition in Lünen, Cara Sachse (-52 kg) and Michelle Bazynski (-70 kg) try their luck. “To get a DM ticket, you have to land on the podium,” said Stefan Oldenburg, who will also keep an eye on how SUA Bundesliga ace Leon Philipp (single start for JC Itzehoe) will perform.
