Diligence in training was rewarded • Attendorn stories

The corona pandemic also left its mark on this year’s belt test. Usually up to 20 children stand on the mat at the belt exam at the end of the year.

For many children, this belt test came too early, as training could only start again after the almost one year corona break after the summer vacation and a lot had to be learned again in training.

It was a very special situation for two test subjects. Jannes and Matti Stickdorn from TV Volmetal have come to TV Attendorn for training since the holidays. Because the flood disaster in summer did not stop in front of the training hall in Volmetal and destroyed everything.

But the two boys and four young judoka from TV Attendorn trained themselves through the autumn holidays and even completed additional training on Saturdays.

For the first time ever, Licia Munno stood before an examiner. Licia was able to show her fall school and first throwing techniques flawlessly. So she had achieved her goal, the white and yellow belt (8th Kyu).

With Mandy Bentke and Aaron Holletzek the demands were already higher, because for the yellow belt (7th Kyu) the first litters had to be thrown on both sides. It is also important to master all four types of handles.

The increase to the next belt level on this day, to the orange-green belt (4th Kyu) consists in the complexity. In addition to five new throws, relevant competition situations must also be represented using evasive techniques. Then there are the first arm levers in the floor area. Jannes Stickdorn master these tasks with ease.

The highest belt level, green belt (3rd Kyu) on this day, was aimed for by Matti Stickdorn and Janna Götzen. In this test, parts of the nage-no-kata (form of the throws), an excerpt from the black belt test, must be shown for the first time. In order to be able to pass this special exam subject, the two extra shifts pushed, because the normal training time was already well filled with the other requirements of the exam. This effort was worth it because the two of them put in an excellent test and could rightly be proud of themselves and their hard work in training. Jörg Götzen (5th DAN) and Florian Müller (2nd DAN) were on duty as testers.
