Clío Bárcenas is consolidated in 2021 as one of the best in Table Tennis in its category

The competitor from Quintana Roo Clio Bárcenas had a very productive year in terms of achievements within the discipline of Table tennis nationally and internationally, consolidating as one of the best in its category and the best national team.

Bárcenas is one of the strong cards of Quintana Roo, for several years he has remained within the top of table tennis and is one of the references of Mexico in international events.

Among its most important achievements, the Caribbean one stood out in the CONADE National Games which were held in Guadalajara, Jalisco in June, where she won three medals in the Women’s Under-19 category, including silver in Teams, bronze in Doubles and bronze in Singles.

While between November and December she shone as a national team in the First Youth Pan American Games held in Cali-Valle, Colombia, winning gold in the Doubles modality, silver in Teams and silver in Mixed Doubles.

“I feel super proud and happy to have contributed to the Mexican medal table and to contribute a grain of sand in this Pan American, it was a very good year and I am very focused so that the next one will be much better,” said Bárcenas.

“The truth is that we have worked very hard to achieve it, last year barely and there were events due to the pandemic, however, now we are in our best moment and I hope to continue like this,” he said.

Other events in which he managed to appear throughout the year were in the Central American U19 Championship based in Guatemala in April. In May he competed in the Central American Seniors carried out in Costa Rica, in addition to the U19 Pan American Championship of the specialty, held in the Dominican Republic in September.

While in November it was consecrated national champion of First Force in Querétaro, which earned her to be considered in international events for next year, heading to the Santiago 2023 Pan American Games and with a view to Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

“It was an atypical year, but with great fortune, we achieved important steps in this sport, and we are fighting and harnessing ourselves to get to the best of the Pan American Games and possible Olympic Games,” he said.

The woman from Cancun maintains an excellent working rhythm with her partner Darío Arce, who like her, are two of the Aztecs who have great chances of reaching an Olympic tournament.
