CAN 2022 – Algeria will play in the competition with a group without much surprise

Algeria coach Djamel Belmadi unveiled a list of 28 players for the Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon on Friday (January 9-February 6). Striker Yacine Brahimi is making his comeback after having distinguished himself with the bis selection which has just won the Arab Cup in Qatar.

Brahimi, whose last selection with the A dates back to November 2020, completes an impressive offensive armada led by Manchester City striker Riyad Mahrez. At his side the indestructible Islam Slimani and Baghdad Bounedjah, author of the only goal which had offered the last CAN to the Fennecs in 2019 at the expense of Senegal.

To access the knockout matches, Algeria will have to come out of its group consisting of Sierra Leone, Equatorial Guinea and Côte d’Ivoire, which they had already beaten in quarterback in 2019.
