Brock occupies baseball, golf, and volleyball head coaching slots | Local sports

BROCK – Brock High School is proud to announce a new group of world-class head coaches to join the baseball, golf and volleyball programs.

“We couldn’t be more excited about the caliber of coaches who join Brock and what the future of our programs will be under their leadership,” said Chad Massey, Brock’s director of sport. “It really is a great day at Brock as we celebrate these new additions and remain committed to excellence.”

Trainer Tim Arden – Head Baseball Coach

Arden comes to Brock with over 23 years of mentoring and coaching experience for high school athletes. He is a former college athlete with over 300 wins, a state championship, and has won the honor of being named state coach of the year. He excels at building relationships with staff, players, and parents.

“To instill discipline and respect in my teams and at the same time to make them fun and enjoy the game,” said Arden about his priorities.

Coach Arden joined Brock last month.

Coach Hunter Fincher – Head Boy Golf

Fincher comes from a family of trainers and describes his coaching philosophy as follows: “My goal is to develop character and convey values ​​that help my student athletes to be successful after sport and class.”

After a successful high school career in basketball and golf, he played college golf at Western Texas College. After graduation, he took his first job as a trainer and teacher at Weatherford ISD. He has been Assistant Basketball and Head Golf Coach at Peaster since 2017. Hunter will start with Brock after the holidays.

Coach Cathryn Fontaine – Head Girl Golf

Fontaine has served as a second grade teacher at Brock ISD for the past two years and will now also share her golf experiences and successes by leading the girls’ golf team. She won two state championships in high school and was given a full scholarship to play at the University of Oklahoma. She later moved to Tarleton State, where she completed her college golf career as an Assistant Golf Coach. She then was Assistant Golf Pro at Canyon West Golf Club and Abilene Country Club. She is coached at the Hale Center and Levelland ISD. She will start coaching in January 2022.

Coach Nicholas Gay – Head Girls Volleyball

Gay brings over 14 years of coaching experience to Brock, at the college level and through club volleyball programs. His high school coaching record includes 319 wins and 134 total losses, as well as 12 playoff appearances and 10 district championships. He has coached in programs 6A, 5A, 4A and 3A, most recently at Weatherford High School since 2017. He was invited to the Olympic Coaching Clinic in 2009 and 2010 and is an active member of the Texas Girls Coaching Association and a member of the All State Committee. The gay start date will be announced shortly.
