Under the far too generous Colorado sun, the Birds of Prey was not stingy with traps throughout its course. The race first turned to death, by the time the skiers understood the instructions. The first two bibs served as a crash test – violent fall but not serious for Matthieu Bailet, door smashed for Dominik Paris – and five skiers had already given up after only 15 bibs, including Aleksander Aamodt Kilde.
Odermatt was scared too
On the last jump, Odermatt (bib 7) almost swelled the ranks of the unfortunate people of the day. A huge fright without consequences on the clock, the Swiss having even made the biggest difference in the last section. Already a winner in Solden during the opening giant, he is the first skier to achieve two victories this winter. Pinturault is still waiting for his first podium. Bib 17, the defending champion of the big globe had nevertheless done everything well on the top, smart when needed, sharp when he could. He was only 38 hundredths behind in 3rd intermediate.
