Badminton: Pilar Jáuregui and Inés Castillo stand out in the last National Competition in La Videna | Parabadminton | NCZD | FULL-SPORTS

After three days of hard fighting, the National Absolute Badminton Championship It culminated successfully in the Sports Center 2 of La Videna, with the participation of more than 100 athletes and Para athletes, thus closing the calendar of competitions scheduled for 2021.

The perfect lighting and the good condition of the enclosure, in charge of the Legacy Project, allowed the competition to take place, without problems, on the official fields that were enabled, following all biosafety protocols.

Pilar Jáuregui and Inés Castillo shone in the tournament, confirming the great moment they are going through, after participating in the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games and the Cali 2021 Junior Pan American Games, respectively.

The Para badminton player won four gold medals, standing out in the singles, doubles and mixed modalities. While Inés seized two gold medals in singles and doubles.

“This year I did not compete so much, but I did train a lot at VIDENA because the main objective was to get the medal in Cali 2021. Without a doubt, Badminton has been growing for some years. Before, the discipline was known only in Lima; however, it has become overcrowded as a result of the achievements we have obtained ”, Inés Castillo asserted.

The 22-year-old athlete comes from winning the bronze medal in Cali 2021. The outstanding national badminton player, led by strategists Christina Aicardi and Isaac Núñez, advanced to the semifinals of the women’s singles, securing her place on the podium. Now, she aims to qualify for Santiago 2023.

“For next year I will face very tough tournaments, such as the Pan American Badminton team and some international Open. Without a doubt, it will be a 2022 full of challenges for our discipline ”, added.

In turn, Pilar Jáuregui was happy with the good performance achieved, training daily at Sports Center 2, which maintains its optimal conditions in charge of Legado. The para athlete also comes to shine, along with the national delegation, in the South American Badminton, in Brazil.

To this list of Para athletes who stood out in the Absolute National Championship, organized by the Peruvian Badminton Federation, Pedro Pablo de Vinatea, Diana Rojas and Giuliana Poveda were added.

The most modern sports infrastructure in the Americas emerges in La Videna, where athletes and Para athletes have found safety to train and compete, without fear of injury.
