The third edition of the Gers Judo Grand Prix brought together some 200 fighters from across the region on the tatami mats of Mouzon.
The 2020 edition of the Grand Prix de judo du Gers could not be held due to a health crisis, it is with pleasure that the judokas of Gers and the region of Occitania were able to meet on December 4 and 5 in the Mouzon room, kindly provided by the municipality of Auch.
For this edition, the departmental judo committee, in collaboration with the Gascon Judo-Club, innovated by offering a fight animation on Saturday December 4 and a kata tournament the next day.
So no less than 200 fighters met on Saturday, in the categories of colored belts (orange to blue), but also brown and black belts.
For the colored belt fighters, it was an opportunity to become aware of the atmosphere of this type of event but also to confront each other in conditions close to reality. As for the brown and black belts, they were also met under the same conditions, each earning the points necessary for the acquisition of the higher rank.
On Sunday, the organizers offered a kata tournament. This formula allows the judokas to express themselves (by two) in a form other than the fight. Still little practiced in the Gers, it still brought together half a dozen couples who offered very honorable services in Nage no kata (4), Katame no Kata (1), Kime no kata (1) and Goshin jitsu ( 1). It was a treat for everyone and a definite encouragement for the organizers with a view to arousing vocations.
In passing, the Gers committee thanked the departmental council, the city of Auch, the Gascon Judo-Club and all the volunteers who participated in the realization and the success of these two days … Wishing a happy: “See you next year !”
