Athens dispenses with the services of Gamboa

Atenas resolved in the last hours to cut guard Eduardo Gamboa, who will cease to belong to the squad that acts in the National Basketball League (LNB) for “tactical reasons and team restructuring,” as announced in a statement. The 37-year-old player from Chubut ceased to belong to the ‘Greek’ team led by Claudio Arrigoni and who occupies the last position of the table in the regular phase, with a provisional record of 2-9.

After nine games played, Gamboa (former player of La Unión de Formosa and Boca Juniors, among other clubs) accumulated an average of 11.1 points; 3.2 assists and 2.9 rebounds per game. The ‘green’ cast will officially resume the competition next Thursday, January 6, facing Obras Basket as local.

Then, on Wednesday 12 it will be measured with Regatas Corrientes, also at the Carlos Cerutti Sports Center. For the return of the activity, the brand new reinforcements that will arrive in the Cordovan entity are expected, such as the Puerto Rican base Georgie Pacheco Ortiz (Brujos de Guayama) and the American pivot Deion McClenton (ex San Martín de Corrientes).

Ginobili nominated for NBA Hall of Fame

Former basketball player Emanuel Ginobili acknowledged this weekend that it is a “nice mime” to be among the nominees to enter the Hall of Fame of the NBA in the United States for his four titles with San Antonio Spurs. “It is an honor. I saw it coming. It is a nice mime, it does not change me if they choose me or not. If it happens, great. If it doesn’t happen, nothing happens. It is something very important at the basketball level, ”said the Bahian in an interview with Solo Básquet.

Ginobili, 44, could become the first Spanish-speaker to enter an exclusive venue that includes Michael Jordan, Larry Bird, Tim Duncan and Kobe Bryant, among others.

Ginobili’s main competitors will be other basketball players with a long and prolific career such as Shawn Marion, Richard Hamilton, Mark Jackson, Marcus Camby, Chauncey Billups, Tom Chambers, Muggsy Bogues, Michael Finley and Tim Hardaway.
