Ashleigh Barty returns to Adelaide on a WTA tour in early January after a four-month hiatus

Barty had paused to relax and to “concentrate, to have the strongest possible preparation” for the start of the season in her home country with the Australian Open (January 17th to 30th) as the first highlight.

The 25-year-old was named Player of the Year by the WTA during the week.

The Wimbledon winner had defended her world number one position in 2021 with a victory record of 42: 8 on the tour, but failed earlier than expected at the Australian Open (quarter-finals), French Open (2nd round) and US Open (3rd round) .
