Amélie Mauresmo director of Roland-Garros: ten dates that marked her career

Amélie Mauresmo was – almost – born with a racket in her hands. At 4 years old, she already knew how to use it, remembers her mother in “L’Express”, recalling the day when her daughter met the world of tennis. “Noah had just won Roland-Garros. Amélie wanted to imitate him, copying services and reverses in the garden. At 6 years old, she is enrolled in a course. She amazes her instructors, captivated by her physical power and the precocity of her gesture. ”

In 1995, at the age of 16, Amélie Mauresmo took part in her very first Roland-Garros thanks to a “wild card” granted by the organization of the tournament to young figures on the circuit whose classification did not allow them to qualify. In 1996, she won both the Roland-Garros junior tournament and that of Wimbledon, the same year, she was named junior world champion by the International Tennis Federation.
