Yonhap hosts annual badminton tournament for multicultural families

GOYANG, Nov. 27 (Yonhap) – Yonhap News Agency, South Korea’s premier news service, will host its annual badminton tournament for multicultural families this Saturday, featuring some 300 male and female players and their families. families from all over the country.

The 2021 National Multicultural Family Badminton Tournament will be held at Goyang Gym in Goyang City, just north of Seoul later today. This year’s tournament will be co-hosted with the city’s Sports Council.

Yonhap has been offering the event since 2010 to promote harmony between families of diverse origins and cultures in an increasingly diverse society.

The Ministry of Gender and Family, Goyang Township, Korea Institute for Healthy Families and Yonhap News TV will sponsor the sporting event.

Dignitaries in attendance will include Yonhap CEO Seong Ghi-hong, Deputy Minister of Gender Equality Kim Kyoung-seon and Mayor of Goyang Lee Jae-joon.

Only fully vaccinated people or those with a negative Covid-19 PCR test will be allowed to participate in the event. Participants will also be required to wear a mask during matches.
