In the midst of the death of a triathlon team member belonging to Gyeongju City Hall, who passed away in June last year, deep-rooted evil habits entrenched throughout the sports world, and assaults between the coach and players, the military In order to preemptively respond to this and prevent extreme events in advance, a business agreement was signed.

The Yeongdong-gun Workplace Sports and Sports Department has been entrusting regular education to an external organization every year, but recently, due to COVID-19, it was replaced with audio-visual education and education was in progress.

Accordingly, the military decided to join forces with local professional counseling and educational institutions to enhance the effectiveness of education and to spread a culture of respect and consideration within the Ministry of Workplace Sports and Sports.

Recently, he visited the Yeongdong Domestic Violence and Sexual Violence Counseling Center, which opened in 2015, and conducted joint training for two hours with 23 coaches and players strictly observing the quarantine rules.

After the training, badminton player Yoon Mo said, “Through this training, we were able to find out what we didn’t know or how the players themselves can respond and the practical procedures, so it was very helpful.” He was very satisfied with the content of the training.

According to the agreement, the two organizations will cooperate with each other, such as consulting with the injured players, linking with judicial authorities when there is any suspicion of damage, and promoting joint projects to protect the rights and interests of athletes.

With this agreement as an opportunity, Yeongdong-gun plans to continuously provide related education so that it can completely eradicate bad habits and deeds.

The term of the agreement is one year from the date of the agreement, and is automatically extended by one year unless there is a special reason.

The idea is to create an environment where the players can concentrate on sports only, and create a workplace athletics club that will serve as a model for the development of sports in Yeongdong-gun and furthermore the sports world.

A military official said, “Private and government will work together to establish the system, and we will do our best to prevent damage and protect human rights by working with major local organizations.”
