The national team, led by Herbert, will meet for the first time on Monday, November 22nd in Nuremberg to prepare for the upcoming World Cup qualifier against Estonia. A few days after Herbert’s debut on Thursday, November 25th, the DBB team will play against the Polish national team in Lubin (Sunday, November 28th). “The respective line-ups for the game day will be decided at short notice due to stoppages still to be regulated at the moment,” says the DBB.

Among others, the Euroleague professionals Tibor Pleiß (Anadolu Efes Istanbul) and Johannes Voigtmann (CSKA Moscow), who are not available due to the ongoing dispute between the world association FIBA ​​and the Euroleague at the start in Nuremberg against Estonia, will be there again. At Ismet Akpinar (Fenerbahce Istanbul) there is hope for a secondment. As expected, the German players from the NBA are not there.

For the first time in two years, Bastian Doreth is on the line-up again. The Bundesliga professional from medi Bayreuth had already announced a possible return a few days ago in an interview with “nordbayern.de”: “I had a very good open conversation with the national coach.”

“We have a great group of players, from the BBL and from the beginning Robin Benzing from outside, maybe Ismet Akpinar. We invited a little more players than normal because of the pandemic,” Herbert is now quoted in an association report. “Maybe there will be new situations in this regard over the next two weekends. I’m looking forward to working with the players and getting started.”
