Undefeated 50-0 and all-time great boxer Floyd Mayweather last played in a pro fight in 2017. Mayweather beat Conor McGregor by a 10th round technical knockout, extending his unbeaten streak to 5-0. However, after the victory, he announced that he would retire from professional boxing. Mayweather has now been a boxing promoter since retiring from professional boxing in 2017.
There have been several rumors surrounding Mayweather’s return to boxing since his third retirement in 2017. However, the 44-year-old has long-term plans in mind when it comes to his businesses and investments.

In 2017, Mayweather expressed his desire to own an NBA team. During an old interview, he was asked if he likes fantasy football. Then Mayweather spoke of his interest in owning an NBA team.
“As soon as I have an NBA team, I’m going to stop betting. I am [walking] away from betting, ”Mayweather said ESPN. “You can’t bet when you own an NBA team, so I look forward to having an NBA team in the future. So once I have an NBA team, I won’t bet anymore.
He was then asked which NBA franchise is he interested in purchasing. To that, Mayweather replied that he didn’t have a team in mind.
“I don’t know where the team will be, but I can’t wait to have a team someday,” replied Mayweather.

Mayweather is a regular NBA fan. So, it won’t be a surprise if he continues to invest in a franchise. In fact, he even posted a photo of himself with Lakers legend Magic Johnson in 2017, where he mentioned it was time for him to buy an NBA franchise. However, there have been no major developments since then.
