Villefranche-de-Rouergue. Badminton. The Interclubs were finally able to take place

After two seasons truncated by the pandemic, the Interclubs finally resumed their rights last weekend. Team 1 of GBC 12 played at home for this first day (Division One), a refreshed team since new players represent the colors of the club.

As would be expected, getting started was a bit difficult. Faced with a very good team from the Monastery in the morning, where the former president of the club Cyril Castel is now playing, the Villefranchois fell in the face of stronger ones. Only Annaëlle Sabatier won her single, and the locals lost 7 to 1. No regrets, however, for the team of captain Aurore Fillola (surrounded by Lisa Ayard, Annaëlle Sabatier, Thomas Lejeune, Alexandre Laubies and Jacques Lamagnere), whose it was a first at this level.

An encouraging first

In the afternoon, Florian Nicouleau and Jérémy Fraysse had replaced Alexandre Laubies and Jacques Lamagnere for the match against Rodez 2. For this first at home, all the players who make up the team were invited to the party. The outcome could have been happier for the Villefranchois, who did not go far from sharing points during the last meeting. Unfortunately, the Fillola / Lejeune pair lost after two very tight sets, 27-25 / 21-19. Previously, Annaëlle Sabatier had once again done the job in singles, as well as in women’s doubles associated with Lisa Ayard. Aurore Fillola also won her single in three sets. If Jacques Lamagnere and Jérémy Fraysse could not do anything in men’s doubles, Jérémy and Lisa Ayard could have hoped for better in mixed (defeat in three sets). In the end, the Villefranchois bowed 5 to 3, contenting themselves with the defensive bonus. An encouraging first for this new team which is gradually getting to know each other, and making its mark in view of future deadlines.
