Dhe former national soccer player Mesut Özil visited Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan again and then posed for a photo with him.
Özil, who has been playing for Fenerbahce Istanbul since the beginning of the year, posted this picture of himself, Erdogan and the former professional and TV expert Ridvan Dilmen on his Instagram channel. Özil wrote in Turkish and English: “Football Talks with our President RTE (Recep Tayyip Erdogan, d. Red.) And Ridvan Dilmen”. In German: “Football talk with our President.”

Not the first time that Özil poses with the controversial president. Shortly before the 2018 World Cup in Russia, Özil came under fire for a photo with Erdogan. He resigned from the national team after the embarrassing preliminary round.
Erdogan was also there at Özil’s wedding with the former Miss Turkey Amine Gülse in 2019. He was even Özil’s best man.
In terms of sport, things are not going well for the former star of Arsenal FC. A good two weeks ago, after his substitution in the Europa League against Antwerp, he suffered a frenzy when he kicked several water bottles and threw his jersey on the ground.
Most recently he was injured in the Europa League in the second leg against the Belgians.
