This is more good news for refereeing in the NBA. After the rule changes put in place this season, which are unanimous, apart from some players who were targeted as James Harden and Bring Young, one that has been waiting for many years could land. Indeed, according to Shams the competition committee would have discussed the case of the faults committed to cut the counter-attacks.
These famous faults which FIBA remedied a few years ago by giving unsportsmanlike faults in these situations. The committee encourages the NBA to put in place a rule to combat this tactic which cuts off the game and penalizes attack in the future. It remains to define the rule, but when the committee encourages such a change it is almost always adopted.
Sources: The NBA Competition Committee today discussed the uptick in transition “take” fouls this season and encouraged the league office to develop a rule change that would eliminate incentive to utilize the tactic in future.
