Tottenham Hotspur quickly continues and appoints Antonio Conte | Football

In London, Conte signs a contract until the summer of 2023. An option has been included for another year. His first game will follow on Thursday when Vitesse comes to visit in the Conference League.

That Tottenham switches so quickly to the Italian is not completely unexpected. Conte spoke to Spurs a number of times this summer as the club were looking for a replacement for Jose Mourinho. Nuno was eventually chosen, but the Portuguese was sacked on Monday after the hopeless 3-0 defeat at home against Manchester United last weekend.

The 52-year-old Conte left Inter Milan in May this year just weeks after winning Serie A. Before that, he led Chelsea to the league title in 2017, but had to leave after a disappointing season with only a win of the FA Cup. Conte previously won three league titles with Juventus (2012, 2013 and 2014). From 2014 to the European Championship 2016 he was national coach of Italy.

For Tottenham, Conte is already the fourth head coach in 2021. José Mourinho, interim manager Ryan Mason and Nuno have already preceded him.
