Things are still moving at Barça: Planes, technical secretary, leaves the club

FC Barcelona announced on Tuesday the departure of its technical secretary Ramon Planes, who oversaw the arrival of young talents like Spaniard Pedri. The club and Ramon Planes “have reached an agreement concerning the termination of the contract uniting them until June 30, 2022“, announced Barça in a statement, specifying that this termination was made at the request of the former technical secretary.

The club would like to thank Ramon Planes for his commitment, his professionalism and what he has brought over the past years and wish him good luck for the future.“, the statement concludes. Planes, 54, joined Barça’s technical secretariat in mid-2018 as assistant to then technical secretary, Frenchman Eric Abidal, when the club was chaired by Josep Maria Bartomeu.

Leaving Abidal in 2020, Planes took over. The new president of Barça, Joan Laporta, elected last March, had renewed his confidence in him. His departure comes four days before the first match of the club’s new coach, former star player Xavi Hernandez, in the league against Espanyol, the other club in the Catalan metropolis.
