On the tatami even before walking. Both graduated. Black judo belts. Ester Mussari and Andrea Gallelli, 30 years old, 19 years old, Catanzaro, they smile. And it couldn’t be otherwise. Fresh from medals: home they brought the title of Juniores Regional Champion cat -60kg and Absolute Regional Champion cat -60 Kg of judo he, Absolute Cat regional champion -70 Kg lei.

Life in Sport athletes, company chaired by Andrea’s father, Giuseppe, teach young and old. Because as they say in unison “judo is done from zero to 99 years”.

Their passion for that black belt tight around the waist has always been born. They started very young and have already reached important milestones: in Rome, at the Olympic Center, they will represent Calabria: November 21 for the Junior National Final and December 18 and 19 for the Absolutes.

Discipline, passion, study for that sport “in which we only get hurt if we ourselves make mistakes”. Andrea knows that he dislocated a hip and hurt his eye. For the rest, judo is “inclusive, it teaches to relate, to be safe, to know how to behave even in a group”.

Two athletes, two young promises of sport and more. Andrea studies Biomedical Computer Engineering at the Magna Graecia University of Catanzaro, Ester is a PhD in Architecture at the Mediterranean University of Reggio Calabria.

Two athletes, two young people from Catanzaro who have chosen to stay in Calabria. In sport as in life.
