The rehabilitation of the Tennis Farm has been agreed

The Councilor for Resource Management, Lluïsa Notario, met this Friday with the residents of the Penyarroja neighborhood to jointly study the rehabilitation project for the Alquería del Tenis, located on Asturias Street.

This is one of the most voted proposals in the Participative Budgets 2021. The municipal services of Architecture and Central Technical Services will be in charge of carrying out the basic project and the execution of the rehabilitation of the farmhouse, which includes a study previous structural work to discern if reinforcement works for floors, columns, beams, lintels and the roof structure are necessary.

The building is a 19th century farmhouse that remained standing after the urbanization of the adjoining lands, within the inexorable process of occupation of the lands of the Camins al Grau. It is now municipally owned after having served as the headquarters of the Sporting Tennis Club, from which it was acquired after this entity created a modern building for a social club. At present, the property is in a state of advanced deterioration and rehabilitation is necessary to avoid its ruin.

The rehabilitation works will consist, among others, in the consolidation of the walls and the recovery of the exterior and interior finishes, the replacement of wooden carpentry and locksmith elements by others of the same material to reproduce the original pieces, repair and replacement of the roof, adding the thermal insulation layer for the comfort of the building, the recovery of pavements and partitions in good condition, and the introduction of sanitation, water supply and electricity facilities, as well as air conditioning and security

Councilor Lluïsa Notario has highlighted the importance of involving neighborhood associations in the rehabilitation of buildings that, such as the Alquería del Tenis, are intended for neighborhood use, and has detailed that the rehabilitation project has a budget of € 28,106.45 and a two-month execution period.
