The Espai Barça referendum will be on December 19 and online

The Assembly of Compromisers gave a month ago green light at the Espai Barça, the definitive impetus needed by the macro-project for the remodeling of the club’s facilities. The vote granted carte blanche to the board of Joan Laporta, who asked the partners for permission to subscribe to a financing plan worth 1.5 billion euros. The president had previously announced that if validated it would lead to a referendum, which will finally be held on December 19th. It will be the first ‘online’ vote in the club’s history.

“Once the Assembly was over, we set out to get this referendum to take place electronically. We have worked hard, we have secured a guarantee that this can be the case. The percentage of voting in the Assembly was clear. There were present in the room 445 delegates of the 455 accredited until then. 405 people voted in favor, while 21 raised the ballot with the ‘No’ and 6 did not vote with the blank ballot paper. Approval of 2/3 was needed and the acceptance percentage amounted to 91%.

The 110,159 voting members will have until December 7 to update your census data. On the 19th they will have to ratify it via mobile, tablet or computer in one telematic voting which will be open from nine in the morning until nine at night. Aware that the “digital divide” can make it difficult for older members to vote, Barça will enable subscribers who need it to they can exercise the telematic vote from the facilities of the club. The board emphasizes that it has for the first time opted for electronic voting to “encourage participation and encourage members to vote from anywhere in the world.”
