Now it’s time: On Friday, Jannik Sinner starts the preliminary round of the Davis Cup with the Azzurri. A high hurdle awaits the Sextner – in the truest sense of the word.

It is the last highlight before the well-deserved winter break for Jannik Sinner: On Friday and Saturday, the two Davis Cup duels of the Azzurri against the USA and Colombia will take place in the Pala Alpitour in Turin. The circle’s winner will play the quarter-finals on Monday, which will also be held in Turin. The semi-finals and finals will take place in Madrid in early December. But that is still a long way off.

Italy wants to cause a sensation against the USA on Friday from 4 p.m. It won’t be easy, after all, the US boys have come with top players John Isner (ATP 24), Reilly Opelka (ATP 26) and Frances Tiafoe (ATP 38). Jannik Sinner, who as number 10 is Italy’s biggest ace up his sleeve, will most likely face Isner at the start on Friday. The 2.08 meter tall professional tennis player from North Carolina is best known for his extreme serve strength. Breaking here is anything but easy.

Overview of the preliminary round games in the Davis Cup.

Isner won the only duel between the two so far this year at the Masters in Cincinnati in three sets. A month ago, the South Tyrolean and the American should have faced each other again in Indian Wells, but Isner left early due to the birth of his child.

It is not yet clear whether Lorenzo Sonego (ATP 27) or Fabio Fognini (ATP 38) will play in the second encounter. If there is a draw after the two singles, a double decides the victory. The duel against the USA starts on Friday at 4 p.m. One day later, on Saturday, Italy will also meet Colombia at 4 p.m.
