“The 1000 dojos are the project of my life”

The French Judo Federation has launched its “1,000 dojos” project, which should make it possible to create 1,000 new dojos by 2024. An ambitious regional project led by Stéphane Nomis, president of the FFJudo.

How did the 1,000 dojos project come about?

We want to have a social ambition for judo. It is a project that is close to my heart, it is even the project of my life. I told myself that we had to go all out, it was necessary for everyone to buy into our project. So I contacted everyone, once, twice, by email, by SMS, I never let go of anyone. I asked the President of the Republic for the first time, his advisor, once, twice, five times, until I saw him and managed to talk to him about it. He felt that we were resourceful. We are not here to ask for money, the goal is to provide new complete solutions. He very much appreciated that we brought him a solution on several issues in order to develop sport, develop our territories and our neighborhoods.
