The ATP Cup is to take place in Sydney from January 1 to 9, 2022, as the Australian Tennis Association announced on Thursday. The German team around Olympic champion Alexander Zverev also takes part in the team competition.

On the way to the Australian Open there is then a lot of tennis in the Australian summer. For the women there are three tournaments in Adelaide and Melbourne in the first week of January. For the men there are two other events in Adelaide and Melbourne parallel to the ATP Cup.

In the week before the Australian Open, two tournaments each for the men and women are planned in Sydney and Adelaide before the Australian Open begins on January 17th in Melbourne.

Players traveling to Australia at the beginning of the New Year must be vaccinated. So there is still a question mark about Novak Djokovic’s participation. The Serbian world number one has so far left his vaccination status open.

Djokovic has won the Australian Open nine times. He would be aiming for his 21st Grand Slam title in Melbourne, making him the sole record winner in the four most important tournaments.
