Suzann Pettersen named European captain of Solheim Cup in 2023

She was one of the most iconic Solheim Cup players on the European side. Here is Suzann Pettersen captain of this formation. The Norwegian has just been named in place of Catriona Matthew who has led Europe twice in a row to victory.

« I am terribly honored to be named captain of the Solheim Cup, Pettersen explained. It is the greatest honor of my career. My best memories as a golfer all revolve around the Solheim. We are there alongside our teammates, alongside our friends, and we all aim for a single common goal. We fight for our friends and we share truly incredible moments. »

Suzann Pettersen has represented Europe nine times as a player and twice as a vice-captain. She has won the Solheim Cup seven times.

Double winner in Major (Evian Championship 2013, PGA Championship 2007), Suzann Pettersen especially left his mark on the Solheim Cup. In 2019, for her final participation as a player, the Norwegian was chosen by captain Catriona Matthew. And even after an 18-month absence following the birth of his first child, Pettersen responded: a final putt on the 18th on the Sunday inquired allowed Europe to reclaim the trophy.

This success 14.5 to 13.5 sealed the legend of the one who was world No. 2 in 2011 and 2013. Suzann Pettersen was also retiring from sport in the wake of soberly explaining that “It can never be as strong as this moment again”.
