Starling Marte to the Mets for four years

In addition to reaching agreements with Venezuelan Eduardo Escobar and Mark Canha, the Mets have agreed with Dominican outfielder Starling Marte for four years and $ 78 million, according to Jeff Passan.

The 33-year-old Marte hit .316 / .359 / .466 (.824 OPS) for the Athletics in 56 games after coming to Oakland via a trade with the Marlins. In all, the 10-season MLB veteran had a line of .310 / .383 / .458 (.841 OPS) with 12 homers, 55 RBIs and 47 stolen bases, leading the majors in the latter department.

For life, Marte is hitting .289 / .346 / .451 with an OPS + of 116 and 296 in his decade as a major league with the Pirates, Diamondbacks, Marlins and Athletics.
