The next generation of Korean women’s table tennis ace Shin Yu-bin (71st, Korean Air) made her debut at the World Championships pleasantly by defeating the bronze medalist at the Tokyo Olympics.

Shin Yu-bin defeated Suwai Yam Mini (34th, Hong Kong) 4-0 (11-8) in the women’s singles first round of the ‘2021 International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) World Championships Finals’ held in Houston, Texas, USA on the 23rd (local time). 11-7 11-6 11-3) pressed. It was his first win at the world championships in his career.

Suwaiyam has been ahead of Shin Yubin by three wins so far. He is also a talented person who won bronze medals in the 2018 Jakarta-Palembang Asian Games, the 2018 World Championships in Halmstadt, and this year’s Tokyo Olympics.

However, Shin Yubin was not the 15-year-old girl Suwaiyam won 3-0 in the 2019 Asian Championships team event. Shin Yu-bin, who has grown so much at this year’s Tokyo Olympics and Asian Championships, has now easily overpowered her six-year-old older sister.

Shin Yu-bin, who took the lead by winning the first game, played a one-sided game with a 10-4 lead in the second game. The backhand push that sensibly blocked the opponent’s attack stood out. Suwaiyam even put an irregular serve at the end of the 4th game, but he could not stop Shin Yubin’s powerful drive and sharp push.

Shin Yubin will face Sarah Denut (79th, Luxembourg) who defeated Dora Madaraz (64th, Hungary) in the second round (64th). If we win here, it is highly likely that we will meet the ‘world’s strongest’ Chen Meng (China) in the third round.

Prior to the singles, Shin Yubin also won the first round in mixed doubles. Shin Yu-bin, who participated in the round of 64 with Cho Dae-seong (19, Samsung Life Insurance), defeated Nikil Kumar-Ami Wang (USA) 3-0 (11-8 11-3 11-6).
