Santander makes its contribution to the Junior Pan American Games

Santander makes an outstanding presentation in the first days of competition at the Junior Pan American Games in Cali and there are still options to achieve more success in the event.

Disciplines such as swimming, judo and squash have thrown the first podiums for the land of the ‘Cañón del Chicamocha’ in sports jousts.

The medal harvest began with Lucía Paola Bautista Sarmiento, who was third in the individual squash modality.

In addition, the 18-year-old from Santander was playing the final in the mixed doubles at the end of this edition, making a double with Nicolás Serna.

In judo, the Santander Gueyler Andrea Colmenares Cristancho and Esteysy Díaz Pestana managed to climb to the third drawer of the podium, in the category of 78 and 70 kilograms, respectively.

“A positive balance with these athletes, who have been performing, despite last year. It was hard work, with a lot of sacrifice and dedication, but it was worth it because it was possible to be on the podium, which was budgeted, ”said Baudilio Hernández Jaimes, technical director of the Colombian Junior Judo Team.

In swimming, Valentina Becerra Quintanilla also won a bronze in the 100 meters butterfly and another bronze in the 4×100 meters combined of the mixed relay, where her countryman Juan Daniel García Ruiz was also.

The competition for athletes in the region continues and there are more possibilities for medals with athletes such as Simón Gómez (sailing), Carolina Ulloa (athletics) and Juan Carlos Noriega (volleyball), among others.
