Ready for the semifinals – Ekstra Bladet

The mixed doubles with Mathias Christiansen and Alexandra Bøje is ready for the semifinals at the Super 1000 tournament Indonesia Open.

For the third time in the tournament, the Danes faced an Indonesian home team on Friday, and for the third time it was a victory.

The pair beat Hafiz Faizal and Gloria Emanuelle Widjaja in the quarterfinals with the figures 14-21, 21-11, 21-18.

The two Indonesians rank as number 10 on the world rankings, where the Danes are ranked number 15.

In both the first and second rounds, Christiansen / Bøje also won over Indonesian couples. Especially in the second round, the Danish pair took a big scalp with the victory over world number five, Praveen Jordan and Melati Daeva Oktavianti, in two sets.

The mixed doubles was the first Danes in action at the quarterfinals on Friday.

Later, Rasmus Gemke, Hans-Kristian Vittinghus and Viktor Axelsen will play in men’s singles, while the double with Kim Aastrup and Anders Skaarup Rasmussen will also be in action.

Anders Antonsen should also have played the quarterfinals on Friday, but early Friday Danish time he withdrew with a muscle injury.
