Pontivy. Music, dance, cuisine … Louisiana comes to the convention center

From November 15 to 26, the Rennes academy is organizing the American Fortnight in several schools in the region, including the Joseph-Loth and Jeanne-d’Arc high schools in Pontivy (Morbihan). The health context having caused the cancellation of the event, it is therefore a first that Pontivyans will be able to discover on Wednesday 17 and Thursday 18 November 2021.

Music, dance and cooking

“The city of Pontivy was essential because it is twinned with Napoléonville, in Louisiana, and it is of course a way to introduce high school students to the culture and the Anglo-Saxon language”, underlines Élisabeth Bourdon, ambassador of the project. The municipality did not hesitate to be a partner in the project by offering its logistical support and its knowledge of the associative fabric.

Beyond the work carried out in schools, events open to the public will be organized at the convention center around music, dance and cooking. On Wednesday November 17, the Cajun jazz group Bouexi Band will participate in a musical talk, starting at 9:30 am And at 7:00 pm, reconstruction of a saloon by the Crinolines and company association.

Initiation au baseball

Thursday, November 18, short workshops will be organized around Cajun cuisine starting at 1:15 p.m., and an introduction to dance and baseball will be offered. Finally, from November 17, and until the end of the event, exhibitions will be installed in the hall of the convention center as well as on Friday, November 19, at the Kenere space. All these activities are free, and health pass required.
