Ponteareas becomes the epicenter of U15 badminton this weekend. “We are proud to once again host a championship of this level and open the doors of Ponteareas to athletes from all over Spain”, explains the Councilor for Sports, Miguel Bouzó. The presentation was attended by the mayor of Deportes das Neves, Óscar González; the president of the Galician Badminton Federation, Rodrigo Sanjurjo; and the coach of Club Badminton As Neves, Pablo Méndez.

The competition will begin on Friday 26 with the first rounds of the championship between 11.00 and 20.00, the round of 16 for the male and female individual competitors and the round of 16 for doubles. The matches will continue on Saturday 27 from 11.00 to 20.00 hours spread over 4 courts and on Sunday the finals will be played in the morning. The awards ceremony will be attended by members of the City Council, as well as the president of the Spanish Badminton Federation, Andoni Azurmendi, and the president of the Galician Federation.

This is the sixth national event organized in Ponteareas by the Badminton Club As Neves, which is very optimistic about the possibilities for local players. “We participated with 5 athletes in the individual category and with two pairs of doubles and we hope they obtain a good classification, because taking a medal home is always a source of pride,” said Pablo Méndez.
