Niners Chemnitz switch to 3G + | Free press

Basketball Bundesliga: From now on, fans at home games at the exhibition center must be vaccinated or recovered or submit a negative PCR test. This already applies to the next home game on November 14th in the cup against FC Bayern Munich, where a full hall is expected.

Basketball Bundesliga club Niners Chemnitz is reacting to the ongoing and worsening pandemic situation and is changing the access authorization for home games in the fair. Instead of the previously applicable 3G rule (access received vaccinated, recovered and tested fans), the 3G + model will apply from the next home game. This means that rapid tests no longer count. The viewers who tested negative for the coronavirus must present a current PCR result.

“Due to the increasing number of infections, the Saxon State Ministry issued a new corona protection ordinance, valid until November 17, 2021, which tightened the access regulations for major events. As a result, the approval for our previous hygiene concept was withdrawn by the responsible authorities,” said the Niners. If the 3G rule had been adhered to, only 2350 viewers would have been allowed to keep the distance. With 3G + there are up to 4800 fans.

Children and young people up to the age of 16 are exempt from the obligation to provide evidence. The same applies to people for whom there is no vaccination recommendation or pregnant women in the first trimester.

“The decision is really not easy for us, because we do not want to exclude anyone and would like to enable all Niners fans to have the live experience at the Chemnitz Exhibition Center,” said the club’s press release. “Ultimately, however, we can only live up to our economic responsibility for the Niners with the 3G + model, maintain a capacity utilization of 4800 seats and get by without relocations. We will continue to communicate with the authorities in order to achieve moderate, appropriate restrictions and as soon as it is it is legally possible to return to simplified access conditions. “
