NFL: Saints defeat Buccaneers 36-27 despite losing Jameis Winston

The New Orleans Saints overcame the loss of starting quarterback Jameis Winston and a late comeback from Tom Brady’s offense to win 36-27 at the Superdome on Sunday afternoon.

Winston left the game with a knee injury after being punched by Devin White. Winston’s left knee twisted when he was held down by the Bucs linebacker.

“I think it’s notable as an injury,” Saints coach Sean Payton said. He was given crutches. When a guy gets up but then has to sit down, it worries a bit. “

Trevor Siemian took over for Winston in the second quarter. The quarterback completed 16 of his 29 passes for 159 yards and a touchdown.

Tampa Bay erased a 16-point delay in the second half.

With 5:44 to go in the final quarter, the Bucs took the lead 27-26 thanks to a 50-yard connection with Cyril Grayson, once a member of the LSU track team.

A placement, however, gave the lead to the Saints, then the defense resisted.

Brady dropped the ball after hesitating to pass, following pressure from Cameron Jordan. The ball was picked up at midfield by David Onyemata, returning to play after a six-match suspension.

“We didn’t play like we can,” said Brady, quoted by the Bucs website. Myself, I must do better. We will try to play better next time. “

Buccaneers wide end Rob Gronkowski only played briefly, having to give up his seat due to back pain.

He had just missed four matches with a rib injury.

Brady still amassed 375 yards on the air, in addition to completing four touchdown passes. He beat Drew Brees in first place in history with his 37e game of four or more touchdown passes.

Chris Godwin was Brady’s main target with 140 yards on eight receptions.

The Buccaneers (6-2) travel to Washington next Sunday, while the Saints (5-2) host the Atlanta Falcons at the Superdome.

The Pats surprise the Chargers

Adrian Phillips had two interceptions and the second saw him bring the ball into the end zone to lead the New England Patriots to a 27-24 victory over the Los Angeles Chargers.

Phillips delivered the final blow to his former team when he caught Justin Herbert’s pass with 10:20 left in the game. Herbert was looking to join wide receiver Jared Cook who was clearly not on the same page as his quarterback on the game.

Phillips climbed the 26 yards that separated him from the end zone to give the Pats the lead. Rookie Mac Jones then joined Jakobi Meyers to pull off the two-point convert giving Bill Belichick’s squad a seven-point lead.

Nick Folk contributed to the win with four field goals, the last of which was 2:21 left which gave the Patriots the confidence they needed to be safe.

Joshua Palmer brought the Chargers down to three points by catching a 24-yard pass in the end zone for his first career NFL touchdown.

With only forty seconds left on the clock, the Chargers attempted the short kick, but it was Hunter Henry, another former Chargers, who caught the ball for the Patriots and ended the game.

The Patriots (4-4) started the season 1-3, but have since won three of their last four games. The Chargers (4-3) suffer a second straight loss.

Young quarterback Jones, who had completed 70.4% of his passes since the start of the season, has had one of his worst games. He finished his day with 18 wins in 35 attempts for 217 yards.

On the other hand, Herbert also had a day of misery completing 18 of 35 passes for 223 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions.

The Chargers got off to a great start, crossing the goal line twice in their first three streaks to take the 14-7 lead. However, they were unable to keep up this pace and maintain their lead.

In the loss, running back Justin Jackson ran for 75 yards. It is the second longest run in the last ten years for the Chargers.

Smith turns to Lockett and Metcalf

Geno Smith relied on the Seattle Seahawks’ top two receivers who easily defeated the Jacksonville Jaguars 31-7.

Smith has joined DK Metcalf twice in the end zone. The great receiver also made a superb catch for his first touchdown of the game. Tyler Lockett was Smith’s favorite target, however, as he racked up an impressive 142 yards on 12 catches.

In the end, Smith had 195 passing yards completing 20 of his 24 passes.

For the Jaguars, Trevor Lawrence threw a late-game touchdown pass to Jamal Agnew to save the day after a tough day at the office. He threw an interception and completed 32 of 54 passes attempted.

Thanks to yards obtained late in the fourth quarter when the spell was cast, Lawrence recorded 238 yards.

Broncos defense rises

Washington 10 – Broncos 17

The Denver Broncos played with fire, but the defense rose late in the game to secure a 17-10 victory over Washington Soccer Team.

Melvin Gordon III had two touchdowns including the one that broke the deadlock late in the game.

Gordon had a winning breakthrough of seven yards with 4:27 left in the game. He also caught a 15-yard touchdown pass from Teddy Bridgewater late in the second quarter.

Brandon McManus provided a 45-yard field goal for Denver (4-4), who was stopping a four-game losing streak.

The Broncos blocked two field goal attempts.

DeAndre Carter grabbed a 20-yard touchdown pass from Taylor Heinicke in a losing cause.

Chris Blewitt lodged the ball between the two rods from a distance of 52 yards for the Washington club (2-6), beaten for the fourth time in a row.

The Broncos’ next game will be away from home against the Dallas Cowboys next Sunday.

Washington will have a week’s break before the daunting task of hosting Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on November 14.
