NFL: Henry Ruggs III charged with impaired driving causing death

Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Henry Ruggs III was involved in a fatal car crash Tuesday morning.

Ruggs will be charged with impaired driving causing death.

According to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, officers “responded to the scene of a collision involving a Corvette and a Toyota Rav4 near the intersection of South Rainbow Boulevard and South Spring Valley Parkway. The Toyota was on fire. Firefighters spotted the body of a deceased woman inside it. The preliminary investigation determined that the front of the Chevrolet struck the rear of the Toyota.

“The driver of the Chevrolet has been identified and it is 22 year old Henry Ruggs III. He remained at the scene of the accident and showed signs that he was not in normal condition. He was taken to hospital for treatment for non-life threatening injuries. Ruggs will be charged with impaired driving causing death. The investigation is continuing, ”the Las Vegas Metro PD said in a statement.

There was a female passenger alongside Ruggs who was also taken to hospital.

The Raiders have yet to comment on the matter.

Ruggs was the Raiders’ first-round pick in the 2020 Draft, 12th overall, from the University of Alabama.

He himself lost his childhood friend Rod Scott in a car crash in 2016.

The Raiders (5-2) had a week off but returned to their headquarters yesterday for a return to training on Wednesday. They are due to visit the New York Giants on Sunday.
