Jorge Martn (Ducati-Pramac) achieved pole position in the Valencia Grand Prix this Saturday, the last of the legend Valentino Rossi, 42, who will start from 10th position. The French Fabio Quartararo (Yamaha), who is guaranteed to be world champion for the first time, could only do the 8 best time.

The first line will be completely red with, in third position, the other Ducati of the Australian Jack Miller (4 of the general classification). In second line will be the 2020 world champion Joan Mir (Suzuki), who is guaranteed to climb to the third place on the podium this season. The French Johann Zarco (Ducati-Pramac), currently 5 of the world championship and the Spanish Lex Rins (Suzuki) will leave the 5 and 6 places, respectively.

“I have given everything, it has been a perfect lap. It gives me a lot of motivation for tomorrow. I think the pace is there to fight for the podium,” Martin told DAZN after achieving his pole position. It is the fourth pole of this season for the ‘rookie’ Martn, debutant in the queen category of motorcycling.

The 23-year-old Spaniard has already won the Grand Prix of Styria (Austria) in the summer and would surely have been higher than the 14th place it currently occupies in the championship if he had not missed four GPs due to an injury.

Crowd goodbye to Rossi

But, if the fans have returned by the thousands to the stands (between 70,000 and 75,000 spectators are expected on Sunday), it is to say goodbye to the nine-time world champion Valentino Rossi, who will retire after Sunday’s race, writing the last line of one of the most important chapters of MotoGP.

Rossi, as if it were a relay, was helped in his last classifications by his disciple Bagnaia, 24 years old and pilot of his VR46 academy, taking advantage of the slipstream of the powerful Ducati of the already runner-up in the world of 2021.

‘Il Dottore’, currently 20th in the championship, participate in its 432 Grand Prix counting all categories since its debut in 1996.
