Morocco wins two bronze medals – Moroccan ladies

Morocco won two bronze medals on Sunday on the second day of the International Judo Open held on November 13 and 14 in Dakar. The national team composed in particular of Sofia Belattar and Aziza Chakir thus finished the competition in third place in the general classification.

On the last day of the International Judo Open organized on November 13 and 14 in Dakar, two medals were won by Morocco. Indeed, Sofia Belattar beat Senegalese Diatta Yacine (- 70 kg), and Hamza Al-Abdlaoui emerged victorious from her duel against Congolese O. Gambi (-90 kg). Already on Saturday, the national team had won two gold medals and two bronze. The gold was won by Hassan Doukkali (-73kg) who defeated the Senegalese Saliou Ndiaye and by Aziza Chakir (-48kg), who took over the Ivorian Diarrassouba Maïmouna. Lamiae Eddinari (-57kg) and Zakaria Lamaalem (-60kg), for their part, won bronze, with respectively the Kenyan Mailu Tabitha and the Senegalese Keita.

At the end of this 2nd day, Morocco occupies third place in the general classification behind Côte d’Ivoire and Senegal. A total of 17 countries, including England and Ireland, took part in the Dakar International Judo Open which took place in the Marius Ndiaye stadium. The Dakar International Judo Open is part of the qualifying competitions for the 2024 Olympic Games.
