Midón closed an unforgettable week in Mexico: he was crowned champion in doubles

Corrientes tennis player Lautaro Midón leaves behind an unforgettable week. In Merida, Mexico, he reached the semi-finals of Grade 1 (ranking prior to a tennis Grand Slam) and reached the title in the doubles table. This performance takes place prior to his presentation at the Pan American Youth Championship that has been taking place in Colombia since last Thursday.

At 17, Midón continues to gain experience in his career as a tennis player. Yesterday he said goodbye to the semifinals of the Junior World Cup in Yucatá when he fell against Paraguayan Martin Antonio Vergara (17 years old) from Puerto by a double 6-1. His rival on duty had entered the main draw of the contest as Lucky looser (lucky loser).

The clash between the Argentine and the Paraguayan became a classic crossover because the two players dominated the minor categories in South America and on several occasions crossed paths to define decisive instances.

In Mérida, Midón just started playing in the second round of the 34th Yucatán Youth World Cup, which takes place at the Mérida Country Club on a brick dust surface.

To reach the semifinals, he left Canadian Marko Stakusic, Paraguayan Martín Antonio Vergara and Blockx on the road.

Midón (2004 class) currently ranked 84 in the ITF junior world ranking, has already added good results in Mexico and will be among the top 45 in the next update, which will mark its best all-time record.

Despite the defeat in the singles box, Lautaro Midón cheerfully said goodbye to Mexico. In the company of Juan Manuel La Serna they obtained the title in doubles. In the decisive match they beat Joao Víctor Couto Loureiro (Brazil) and Henrique Rocha (Portugal), 6-4, 0-6 and 11-9. It was the first consecration of the Corrientes in a Juniors doubles tournament.

The Argentine duo beat Kalin Ivanovski (North Macedonia) and Luka Mikrut (Croatia) in the quarterfinals by 4-6, 6-1 and 10-4. In the semifinals they beat Peruvians Gonzalo Bueno and Ignacio Buse by 1-6, 6-1 and 10-8.

To Colombia

At the end of this edition, Lautaro Midón and Juan Manuel La Serna, members of the Argentine Tennis Association, were traveling to Colombia to participate in the first edition of the Youth Pan American Games.

The continental contest has been officially held since last Thursday in the cities of Cali and Valle del Cauca.

It should be noted that tennis in the Colombian competition is scheduled to compete from tomorrow. The activity will take place in the Cali Country Club and which is getting ready to receive about 80 tennis players from 21 countries.
