Messi makes comeback (against the wishes of PSG), Di Maria match winner at Argentina | World Cup preliminary round

Lionel Messi has been absent from PSG in recent weeks with an injury. The French side would have liked its star player to continue his rehabilitation in Paris, but Messi was still called up to the Argentina national team.

He made his comeback with Argentina, as a substitute against Uruguay. The final score had long been on the board by then. On a pass from Dybala, Di Maria had scored the only goal in the 7th minute: 0-1.

Argentina thus comes to 28 points in the South American World Cup preliminary round, with a buffer of 12 points and with 6 games left. Messi and co can hardly escape qualifying.

That cannot be said of Uruguay, which still falls outside the virtual World Cup tickets in 6th place. It would be remarkable if the Uruguayans do not make it to the World Cup, because the country has benefited from a boom in recent years with stars such as Suarez, Forlan and Cavani.
