London Chelsea goalkeeper Édouard Mendy and his cousin Ferland Mendy of Real Madrid have criticized some media outlets for incorrectly supplementing their reports of rape allegations against their namesake, Benjamin Mendy. French world champion Mendy of Manchester City has been charged with six rapes and one sexual assault. He denies guilt.
All three players are French natives of Senegalese descent, with Édouard Mendy being the only one to represent this African country. According to goalkeeper Chelsea, the photos in the media were exchanged only because they have dark skin.
