Mats Rits is the only Bruges resident to have played on the pitch with his trainer.
This Friday, Mats Rits will return to Mechelen, a club where he played for five years (2013-2018), with more than 150 games on the clock. An obviously special moment, especially since the KaVé relaunched it, after his adventure at Ajax Amsterdam (2011-2013).
Since this Dutch episode, the midfielder has been spared. He has never withdrawn for physical problems in the past eight seasons. “Is that true? I never realized,” he says, touching the wooden table he is sitting in front of. “It’s amazing. I just had a serious injury at Ajax, where I didn’t play for seven or eight months…”
