Marko sets Verstappen and Perez bold goal for Mexican GP

This weekend there is another important race on the program for Max Verstappen and Red Bull. In the battle for both world titles, they will want to score many points at height in Mexico City. Helmut Marko thinks his star driver will still travel to Brazil as championship leader after the upcoming race weekend.

“There is a good chance that we will keep our lead. We have a smaller turbo than Mercedes, even though their turbo is smaller than it used to be, and thanks to the thin air that should be an advantage. In Mexico the goal is to to finish first and second,” said the Red Bull advisor.

Red Bull package is strong

Yet it has recently become clear that nothing is self-evident, Marko tells the Gazzetta dello Sport. “It’s so close together that it’s difficult to judge which track is better for which car. In Mexico and Brazil, however, the height plays a role. In America, our package showed that it is strong, because we managed to, in contrast to the races in Russia and Turkey, to find the right set-up. Every time it is necessary to find the right way to keep the tires at the right temperature.”

Marko sees two drivers competing for the title and working very wisely. Verstappen is now very mature and Hamilton fights on experience, he argues. “Max is 24 now, and that is also the age to be an adult. You saw that in Turkey. It would have been dangerous to attack Bottas there. Lewis has a lot of experience at the same time and knows what to do at any moment. . He fights with his mind,” said the Austrian.
