CDMX.- The former diver Marijose Alcalá was elected yesterday as the new president of the Mexican Olympic Committee, after the Committee’s Assembly.
Alcalá will be the first woman to preside over this body in 98 years of history after outvoting the lawyer Norma Olivia González.
The federal deputy will be in charge of the 2021-2024 period but must first request a license from her position in the Lower House.
The vote was carried out after the last annual report of Carlos Padilla, who leaves office after being from 2012 to 2020, having been re-elected.
Alcalá emerged victorious with 67 votes compared to 34 for his opponent, after all the sports federations of Mexico voted.
